Bayer sells HC Starck unit for $1.6 b

GERMANY: The German chemicals and pharmaceuticals giant, Bayer, said on Thursday that it had agreed to sell its metals subsidiary HC Starck to private equity firms Advent and Carlyle for about $1.6 billion.
