BANGALORE: In a late night operation on Friday, the Kalasipalya police arrested a 13-member gang allegedly involved in several murder and extortion cases. The members of the gang were nabbed while they were on their way to attack some members of a rival gang and a real estate agent. Inspector of Kalasipalya police station S.K. Umesh received information that Dinesh (24), who was recently released on bail, had hatched a plan to attack two members of a rival gang. A police team led by Mr. Umesh arrested the 13-member team on Srigandakavalu Road. The police recovered a country-made gun, 10 machetes, six mobile phones, Rs. 2,000 in cash and two multi-utility vehicles. The others arrested include G. Manohar (24), Ravi (24), Girish (20), Harish (21), T. Lokesh (22), K. Dinesh (23), Vinay (22), M. Vijayakumar (32), G. Ravi (21), Raghu (22), Prasanna (22) and Prabhakar (22). The police said Dinesh of Agarahara Dasarahalli was involved in three cases of murder, six cases of attempt to murder and a case of dacoity. He formed the gang a month ago after he was released on bail. His accomplices have criminal cases in Kunigal, Upparpet and Basaveshwaranagar police stations. Commissioner of Police Neelam Achuta Rao commended the work of the police team. He distributed cash rewards to the team members on Saturday.
