MANGALORE: Vice-Chancellor of Goa University P.S. Zacharias said competitiveness of a bank was a key factor for its success. He was speaking at a function organised by Corporation Bank to present its corporate awards to branch managers in Panaji recently, a release by the bank said here on Tuesday. To be a successful businessman in competitive environment was a challenge, he said. While congratulating the award winning bank managers he urged them to work smartly and utilise full potential of market opportunities. B. Sambamurthy, chairman and managing director of the bank, said Indian economy was booming. The banking system had made a significant contribution to the growth of the economy. In the last three years, the banking system had lent over Rs. 8 lakh crore, he said. K. L. Gopalakrishna, executive director of the bank, said that the bank had a unique scheme of rewarding outstanding performance of branch managers, who excelled in various areas of operation.
