A platform to display creative talent



BUDDING TALENT: Premier High School, Srirampuram, organised an exhibition, `Karnataka Darshana,' as part of Suvarna Karnataka celebrations recently.

BANGALORE: Vagdevi Vilas School, Munnekolalu, will organise "Kala Utsav 2006" from December 1 to 3. This festival of art will attract students and teachers from 300 schools across the city.

It will be a celebration of creative ability and a convergence of talent. Various competitions have been lined up for the festival. Experts from various fields will judge the performances.

Competitions will be held in classical music, folk dance and music, patriotic songs, classical dance, Bhagvad Gita chanting, clay modelling, quiz, poetry recitation, and essay writing.

"The festival is aimed at taking minds away from keyboards, mobiles, games and help students explore more colourful options such as painting, singing, fine arts, music and dance. "It will be a revelation for the present generation. It will make them understand that careers are happening in the fields of art and culture," said Principal Sreedevi.

Tribute to Nehru

Raja Rajeshwari High School, Dodda Bommasandra celebrated Children's Day in a unique manner.

The class toppers were the guests of honour and the teachers presented a cultural programme. Principal S.G. Manur lauded the effort of teachers and said that it was a fitting tribute to the former Prime Minister.

Many competitions were conducted for children. The winners were given away prizes.

Spotlight on heritage

Premier High School, Srirampuram, organised an exhibition "Karnataka Darshana" as part of "Suvarna Karnataka" celebrations recently. It threw light on the rich cultural heritage of the State. Uma Rani, Subject Inspector, Deputy Director of Public Instruction's Office, inaugurated the exhibition.

Students prepared models on bird sanctuaries, forests, emiment personalities and folk dances of Karnataka. "We worked on the topics about fifteen days ago and the students took a lot of interest in making the models," said Headmistress D. Sharada.

A slide show presented by high school students highlighted the tourist places of the State.
