Extreme Networks opens second centre

The new facility will focus on design solutions

CHENNAI : Extreme Networks India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the U.S.-based Extreme Networks, providers of open converged networks, is expanding its operations by setting up a second facility in Chennai. The company started its first R & D centre in Chennai in June 2005.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Paul Hooper, Chief Information Officer and Vice President (Marketing) of the company, said the new facility was spread over 11,000 sq ft. and would have around 75 employees initially. The first centre was located on 21,000 sq ft., with about 100 employees. Mr. Hooper said Extreme Networks India planned to leverage its global partnership with Avaya in India to market and sell its switching and networking solutions in the domestic market. For the year ending 2006, the company's revenue was $400 million. Today, the company markets and sells high performance switching solutions in over 50 countries and had an extensive installed base of customers representing both the enterprise and service provider markets.

The centre would also focus on the design and delivery of enterprise-wide systems and solutions to extend and enhance worldwide business operations.
