CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will flag off Metropolitan Transport Corporation's new Yellow Line and Blue Line services here on Sunday. Yellow Line services will be faster and have a maximum of a dozen stops. Blue Line services will be relatively slower and stop at a maximum of 15-16 stops. Both will have a premium fare structure. The actual fares will be announced on Sunday. MTC authorities say 15 buses will run as Yellow Line services on routes such as Broadway- Tambaram (21G); Broadway-Kovalam (PP19 Extn.); Broadway-Kelambakkam (21H); Ambattur Estate-Velachery (D70); High Court-Guduvanchery (E18); Avadi-Vandalur Zoo (70A); and Red Hills-Tambaram (No. 114). Another 15 buses will be operated as Blue Line services on routes including T. Nagar-Tambaram East (V51); Kannadasan Nagar-Vandalur Zoo (170T); Tiruvanmiyur-Avadi (47D); Tiruvottiyur- Poonamallee (101); Broadway-Red Hills (PP242); Vandalur Zoo- Madhavaram (170A); and High Court-Poonamallee (No. 54). Buses for the premium services have been designed for better travel comfort and improved leg space including more plush interiors. The signboards will be brighter, say MTC officials. Some boards will have LED display.
