Senior journalist beaten up
George Joseph, Bureau Chief of Jeevan TV, sustained injuries in the assault and was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. According to the victim's wife, Asha Khosa, her husband had an altercation with employees of the travel agency earlier in the day as they had kept cartons of empty bottles on the staircase blocking his way to office.
Two arrested on theft charge
According to the police, one Prahalad Singh had reported a theft of Rs. 3.65 lakhs at his house in Karawal Nagar and named his tenant Vijay Pal as the suspect. Investigations revealed that both his tenants Vijay Pal and Ram Chander were missing after the incident. A police team was despatched to Kushi Nagar in Uttar Pradesh and Vijay Pal was caught and Rs. 90,000 was allegedly recovered from his possession. Later, his accomplice Ram Chander was also nabbed and Rs. 1 lakh in cash was allegedly recovered from him.
39 LPG cylinders seized; 6 held
Acting on a tip-off, a special police team raided a house in Karawal Nagar here on Friday evening and arrested the accused, identified as Dharmendra, Keshav, Sarnam, Rajesh, Yogender and Dev Pal. They were involved in refilling empty gas cylinders with the help of iron pipes. During interrogation, they purportedly confessed to collecting sealed gas cylinders meant for supply to domestic consumers and then indulging in the crime to make quick money.
Gang busted
According to the police, the gang members -- Ashraf Ali, Shokat Ali, Suleman, and Shakur -- were arrested at Mandawali in East Delhi on Friday evening. The police said the accused would lure their victims by showing them original U.S. dollars and then cheat them by handing over fake dollars. They would stab their victims if they offered any resistance, the police said.
Auto-lifters held
Acting on a tip-off, the police team laid a trap at Seemapuri and caught the three accused.
