Children avert rail accident

Muzaffarnagar : Quick thinking by three children prevented a major rail tragedy on the Delhi-Saharanpur route, about five km from here, on Sunday.

Moments before a passenger train was to pass the Thanabhawan railway station, the children alerted the authorities about a half-metre fracture on the tracks, railway sources said.

Railway authorities rushed to the spot and repair work was undertaken immediately. Traffic on the route was affected for an hour.

Meanwhile, A. K. Sanger, SSP, said the three children — Nishant, Shakti and Sagar — would be recommended for the President's award. — PTI
