BANGALORE: President of the Bangalore Advocates' Association D.L. Jagadeesh on Thursday urged the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court to ensure that electronic display boards that showed the status of cases were installed on the association's premises in all courts in Bangalore.

Mr. Jagadeesh was speaking at a function to mark the inauguration of the display boards on the premises of the Advocates' Association, High Court.

Display boards have been installed in front of each court hall and at the three halls of the association on the High Court premises. Each board is connected to a terminal in the court and when the court officer presses the computer keyboard the number of a case and its category, it is flashed on the board.

Mr. Jagadeesh said display boards would help the advocates plan their duties better as they would know which case was coming up before a court. He urged the High Court to ensure that such display boards were put up at the Advocates' Association's office at Mayo Hall, District and Sessions Court Complex and Magistrate Court Complex.

He said it would be beneficial if such boards were installed in the library and the office of the association for women advocates. He urged the court to expedite the shifting of the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) complex from Indiranagar to a place in or around Bangalore central.

He said advocates were finding it difficult to commute from the courts in Bangalore to the KAT premises.

Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Cyriac Joseph, who inaugurated the display boards, said a place for setting up the KAT was under consideration.

He said there was a proposal to build basement car parking zones in front of the High Court and behind it.

He hoped that advocates would support the project as it would solve the parking woes.

He said that the greenery in the Cubbon Park would not be affected and the project could be taken up if advocates supported it.
