Protest against price rise

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI : The Bharatiya Janata Party staged a demonstration here on Thursday against the rising prices of essential commodities.

Led by the State unit president L.Ganesan, party members and leaders, including vice-presidents G. Kumaravel and Lalitha Subash and general secretary Tamizhisai Soundararajan, raised slogans against the Central and State Governments for their failure to contain the trend.

Mr Ganesan said that apart from rising prices, "undue delay" in the supply of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders and kerosene "shortage" marked the United Progressive Alliance regime.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, though a constituent of the UPA Government, had not done enough to reverse the situation.
