Woman kills son, self

BANGALORE: A HIV-positive woman on Friday night committed suicide after killing her six-year-old son at her house in Electronics City police station limits.

Police said Saraswathi (30), a garment factory employee, poisoned her son, Varun, and later consumed poison at her house in Begur on Hosur Road. She was a native of Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu.

Saraswathi's husband Nataraj, a lorry driver, had died of AIDS four years ago and she had contracted the infection from him. The couple had tested HIV-positive after their two sons were born, police said.
