Minister to give away SSI awards

Kozhikode: Industries Minister Elamaram Karim will distribute the State-level and 14 district awards for small-scale industrialists for 2004-05 at a function to be held at the Malabar Palace here on Friday.

M.E. Beeran of Thodupuzha won the best entrepreneur award in the general category; Mary Johnson of Thrissur, in the women's category and Vilasini of Thiruvananthapuram in the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe category.

Cash prize of Rs.15,000 and a citation is given for the best entrepreneur in the general category. Winners in the women's and SC/ST categories are given a cash prize of Rs.10,000 each and citations. District-level prizes in these categories are Rs.7,500 and Rs.5,000 each respectively. The State Government gives away prizes for small-scale industrialists every financial year considering the activities of the entrepreneurs in the previous five years.
