Schools to function as usual

BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday told presspersons that the Government had not declared holiday for schools and colleges on Thursday in view of the strike called by trade unions.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms had directed all the departments to instruct their employees not to participate in the strike. Asked whether any violation of the directive would attract disciplinary action, the Chief Minister hoped that the organisers would heed his appeal and not participate in the strike. However, the Government would take a decision later, if the employees supported the strike by remaining absent.

He said there was no need for them to go on strike, as the Government had been sympathetic towards their demands.
