Mid-day meal: Joint Collector's directive

Sangareddy: Medak Joint Collector Vani Mohan has warned the headmasters of Government schools that they will be held responsible for problems arising in the implementation of mid-day meal scheme.

NIZAMABAD: To bring out the creative talent hidden in children, career and guidance centres will be set up at the village, mandal and the district level. Two killed in mishap

KURNOOL : Two persons died when a motorcycle on which they riding hit a lorry near Tammarajupalli on the National Highway between Kurnool and Nandyal on Wednesday. One of the deceased was identified as Ramana Sarma.-Special Correspondent

AITUC for job security for women

KADAPA: AITUC district general secretary B. Ramaiah on Wednesday demanded job security to about one lakh women workers in mid-day meals scheme.

He lamented that funds sanctioned for essential commodities remained static for the last four years and sought enhanced grant. The Government has stopped supply of utensils, he said. AITUC would organise a chalo Assembly protest by mid-day meals workers on December 18, he said.-Staff Reporter

Protest against diversion of water

KURNOOL: The supporters of CPI(M), led by district secretary T. Shadrak stormed the Irrigation circle office here on Wednesday protesting against diversion of 10 tmcft water to Anantapur district from Kurnool quota. The protesters stalled the functioning of the office for two hours and raised slogans. Also, they demanded water for rabi crop under KC canal and LLC.-

2 killed in accident

Sangareddy: Two persons riding a moped died on the spot during the wee hours of Wednesday when an unidentified truck hit them on Sangareddy-Nanded road on the outskirts of New Humnapur near Sivvampet. According to the police the two were searching for a missing person when the accident occurred. - Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The State Government has ordered observance of two minutes' silence at 11 a.m. on December 15 in memory of the late Potti Sreeramulu, who laid down his life on that day in 1952 for the formation of Andhra State. - Special Correspondent
