Suvarna Karnataka sports day at Jyothi Vidyalaya



TRADITIONAL DANCE: Students presenting Nandi Dhwaja Kunita at the Suvarna Karnataka sports day held in Jyothi Vidyalaya, Hesaraghatta

BANGALORE: Jyothi Vidyalaya, Hesaraghatta, organised Suvarna Karnataka sports day on Saturday. The programme began with a march past by the contingents of various houses. A. Devprakash, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, took the salute and declared the sports meet open.

M.R. Krishnappa, Block Education Officer, Bangalore North Range - 4, was the guest of honour.

Mr. Krishnappa distributed prizes to the winners. R. Devaraj, Vishwanatha. H.S. and Sanjana N, emerged as individual champions. The kho-kho team, the winners at the district-level meet was felicitated.

As part of Suvarna Karnataka celebrations, students presented a cultural programme, which included "Nandi dhwaja" dance, a Lambani dance and a skit on Onake Obavva. P.S. Mahesh, Secretary and Treasurer of the institution, presented the school report. Rajeshwar Rao, President of the institution presided over the function. Headmaster M. Narendra was present.

Nutritious Food Day

Sri Vani Education Centre, Machohalli, recently organised Nutritious Food Day Activity emphasising on corn and yellow colour concept. Children brought boiled corn and wore bright yellow dresses.

The nutritive value of corn and variety of dishes, which could be prepared were made known to the children. Corn syrup, corn bread, corn chapattis (tortilla), popcorn, sweet-corn salad, baby corn soup were some of the delicacies made of corn.

Rhymes and stories were told to children pertaining to corn and yellow colour. Children were asked to list out the vegetables, fruits, animals, birds and other objects of yellow found in nature.

In the end, sweet corn salad was prepared and given to children.

Talents Week

Florence Public School, R.T. Nagar, organised Talents Week 2006 recently. The event was a platform set to unravel the talents of students.

Bharatanatyam, fancy dress, solo singing, fusion dance, quiz, pick and speak and painting were some of competitions lined up during the event. Principal Abida moderated the group discussion competition and teachers enthusiastically participated in it.
