Remand extended for murder accused

Anantapur: The remand of 13 accused in the Paritala Ravindra murder case was extended till December 29 by the Third Additional Sessions (fast track) Court here on Friday.

All the 13 accused, one lodged in district jail near here and 12 in two Hyderabad jails, were produced in the court. Judge Chandra Mohanty extended the remand in the absence of District and Sessions Judge.

Three of the accused V. Hanumantha Reddy. V. Rekhamaiah and K. Ramamohan Reddy pleaded for some more time for engaging counsels. — Staff Reporter

Potti Sriramulu remembered

Madanapalle: The contribution of Potti Sreeramulu in the achievement of Andhra Pradesh State was recalled at a meeting held at the municipal council hall on Friday in connection with the late leader's 54th death anniversary.

KADAPA: A Transco assistant lineman B. Venkatarami Reddy, working in Amagampalle sub-station in Kasinayana mandal, was electrocuted on Saturday.

He lost his life while replacing a transformer fuse near Balamma choultry, according to Assistant Divisional Engineer Purushotham. — Staff Reporter

Jaggery wash destroyed

KADAPA: Excise personnel destroyed 2,020 litres of jaggery wash in raids conducted in Vaddepalle hamlet of Madhavaram and Ragimanubidiki in Tsundupalle mandal, according to excise task force inspector Konda Reddy.

Assistant Excise Superintendent Jedson and sub-inspectors Jamal Vali, Jnanaprakasam and Gopalakrishna also participated in the raids. — Staff Reporter

Panchayat status

Students arrested ADILABAD: The two town police on Saturday arrested Md. Shakir, a B.Tech. second year student, for allegedly issuing caste, income and residence certificates by forging Adilabad MRO's signature. On a complaint, the police raided a type-writing workshop owned by the father of the accused and recovered the MRO's official stamp and forged certificates. — Staff Reporter
