Vishnu Gopal of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College who won the first prize in the Bharatanatyam competition for males.
ALAPPUZHA: Colleges from Thiruvananthapuram district hogged the limelight on the second day of the Kerala University Youth Festival that began at Mararikkulam on Friday. The competitions began late and the events are progressing at a very slow pace. Vishnu Gopal of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College won the first prize in the Bharatanatyam competition (male), which was the first event staged on Saturday morning. Gishnu R. Nath of Mary Matha College of Engineering and Technology, Paliyode, Neyyattinkara, got the second prize and R. Joy of Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, won the third prize in the event. In the Veena competition, Geetanjali G. Iyer of Karyavattom campus of the Kerala University won the first prize. Students of the Swathi Thirunal College of Music bagged the second and third prize in the category. While P.R. Manoj of the college finished second, the third prize went to K. Veneetha. In the elocution (English) competition, Lijoy Varghese of Mar Baseliose College, Thiruvananthapuram, won the first prize. M. Reshma of the All Saints' College, Thiruvananthapuram, got the second prize. Febna Rahim of Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, and Chintu Jerome of FMN College, Kollam, shared the third prize. In the light music event (male), S. Najeeb Arshad of Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, won the first prize. The second prize in the event was shared between K.S. Ratheesh of S.N. College, Chempazhanthy, and S. Sooraj of M.G. College, Thiruvananthapuram. St. Michael's College, Cherthala, won the first prize in Margom Kali event. The second prize in the event went to Sree Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram.
