New phone directory

CHENNAI: The Chennai Phone Book 2006-07 of BSNL Chennai Telephones will be released shortly. To ensure that entries are correct, all customers, including individuals, businesses, Central, State Government and Public Sector Undertakings, have been requested to verify their entries in the current directory of 2002. If there are changes, they may be given in writing to the Directory Officer, BSNL Chennai Telephones, Mambalam TE Bldg., 652, Anna Salai, Nandanam, Chennai-600 035, which may be contacted at 2435 5939 or 2435 3300, or to Getit Infomediary Ltd., 25, Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai, Chennai-600 004, which may be contacted at 2847 5055 on or before December 31, 2006.

Distance education course admissions

The University of Madras' Institute of Distance Education has extended the last date for admission for all under-graduate courses (excluding OUS), post-graduate courses and M.Phil. courses up to December 30, 2006. The last date for the calendar year courses(except M.B.A.) such as M.C.A. and M.Sc., diploma and certificate courses has been extended up to January 31, 2007. Application form can be obtained from the Institute of Distance Education or from any Spot Admission Centres or Study Centres for Rs. 100.

Blood donation

The Blood Bank of the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch, conducted a blood donation camp on December 13 at the Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur.

Isha Yoga programme

The Isha Foundation will be conducting a 13-day Isha Yoga programme, commencing with an introduction Sunday at Sri Jain Ranganayaki Kalyana Mandapam, Naganallur at 6 p.m. Classes will begin on Monday. Contact 94449 11747 or 2247 0907.

Tiruppavai Upanyasam

A Tiruppavai Upanyasam discourse series by K. Narayanan was inaugurated on Friday. The series has been organised by Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha and Sri Tyagaraja Vidwat Sabha at 37, Venkatrangam Street, Triplicane till January 14 (6 p.m - 8 p.m).

Seminar

The FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council will be organising a seminar on `Changing Dimensions in Employee Relations: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities' at the Hotel GRT Grand Convention Centre on Wednesday at 9.30 a.m. V. Varaprasada Rao, Commissioner of Labour will deliver the inaugural address and release a report on innovative clauses in wage settlements.
