EAMCET to be held on May 4

    HYDERABAD: EAMCET-2007 will be held on May 4 while ICET for MBA and MCA courses will be conducted on May 12.

    Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) Chairman K.C. Reddy announced the dates after a meeting of the Common Entrance Committees here on Monday. He said the dates of EdCET-2007 and PECET-2007 would be announced later.

    EAMCET will be conducted by JNTU while Osmania University will hold ICET. ECET will be held on May 17 while Nagarjuna University will conduct LAWCET on May 27.

    Prof. Reddy said that two committees had been constituted to look into the proposals of introducing negative marks and placing the OMR sheets of candidates on the web.

    A committee consisting of R. Kotaiah (EAMCET-2007 Convenor), D.N. Reddy (ICET-2007 Convenor), APSCHE Secretary M.D. Christopher, Subba Reddy of OU and a nominee of The Department of Technical Education would look into the aspect of cut-off marks.

    Prof. Reddy said the committee would study the reasons behind the abolition of negative marks system (It was abolished in 1997).

    Weightage issue

    Prof. Reddy said that introduction of Intermediate weightage marks in EAMCET had not been finalised but a decision would be taken in this regard before the 2007 academic year begins.

    He also said since the Council of Architecture, New Delhi, had made it mandatory that candidates qualified in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by it would only be eligible for admission in B.Arch course in all aided and un-aided architecture colleges from 2007-08, there would be no State-level entrance test for architecture and planning courses.
