Aid to revive coir cooperatives

ALAPPUZHA: The Government will distribute Rs.16 crore as grant to cooperative societies in the coir sector, Minister for Coir and Cooperation G. Sudhakaran has said. At a press conference here, Mr. Sudhakaran said the aid was part of efforts by the Government to revive the coir sector in general and cooperative societies in the sector in particular.

He said the Government would issue a stipulation that the aid would not be used for giving salary arrears or other unproductive purposes. The societies should use aid for reviving production, he said.
