HYDERABAD: A four-member team of the Anderson School of Management (ASM), University of California, Los Angeles, is around in Hyderabad and Bangalore exploring possibilities of tying up with business schools and corporates, offering executive education programmes.

Judy D. Olian, Dean, heading the team comprising Uday S. Karmarkar, Bhagwan Chowdhry and Boony Kim, told The Hindu here on Monday they already had discussions with B. Ramalinga Raju, Chairman, Satyam Computers, in this regard.

On a visit to Mumbai in the last two days the team members interacted with the top brass of ICICI Bank and Tata Consultancy Services, among others. Ms. Olian said ASM was keen to connect with Indian institutes like IITs, IIMs, ISBs (business schools) and large corporates on providing leadership development programmes and partnering research.

This was the first visit by an ASM team whose faculty has been rated by Business Week as No. 1 in intellectual capital among US B-schools.

Doctoral research

ASM planned to launch in 2008 a four-month certificate course in financial engineering in India for MBA students of IIMs.

Assistance to ISB in doctoral research was also on its agenda.

She said the key challenge before ASM was to effectively tackle the shortage India faced in post-doctoral teaching faculty and researchers, design customised executive programmers and groom experts in financial engineering and technology management.

Joining hands

It could step in to meet the shortage of experts like financial analysts for corporates by joining hands with them.

"We see enormous talent in Indians with high qualifications.

We could contribute to fine-tuning of their knowledge to meet the rising global standards", she added.
