  • ARF is caring for the cow at its hospital
  • In another case, an injured camel was rescued

Bangalore: The Animal Rights Fund (ARF), which found an injured cow lying on the road near the HAL Hospital, took the animal to its hospital in Girinagar.

Representatives of the animal welfare organisation said that on Sunday, a concerned citizen, Manish P.T., called ARF at 11.45 a.m. to say that the injured cow was lying on the road and that it had lost one eye and a part of its face as someone had thrown acid on it.

A rescue ambulance with hydraulic facility was sent immediately to the site and the animal was brought to the hospital.

The cow is aged about two, according to the ARF volunteers.

ARF veterinarian Chandraiah has said that the acid has caused a deep wound from mouth to the horn and has completely blinded the cow's eye.

He said that even the brain might have been affected. He said that the incident might have occurred a few days ago as the wound was completely infested with maggots and the cud was coming out of the mouth.

The cow was being treated with antibiotics, he said and added that its condition was being monitored closely.

    Joyride

In another incident, on Sunday at 4 p.m., R.K. Jain of ARF saw a boy, Dinesh, from Madhya Pradesh, taking children for joyrides on his injured camel near Vandana Hotel in Cottonpet.

The camel was scrawny and malnourished and its feet were bleeding due to walking on the hard road, ARF representatives said.

With the help of the Cottonpet police, the camel was handed over to him for treatment and an ARF veterinarian attended on it.

According to Dinesh, he had walked the animal all the way from Madhya Pradesh.
