Films to be screened from Thursday

BANGALORE: The following films will be screened at Kailash, Tribhuvan and Movieland cinemas under the respective categories during the weeklong international film festival to start from December 21 in the city.

Cinema of the World: Afghanistan-Three Dots. Argentina: As the hours go by, Chile 672, One star and two coffees and Motor Cycle Dairies. Austria: Workingman's Death. Bangladesh: The clay bird. Bulgaria: Monkey in winter. Canada: C.R.A.Z.Y, Familia, These girls and First bite.

China: A Sigh and Breaking the silence. France: Work hard and Play hard, Gamblers, The AX and Clean. Germany: Head on, Summer in Berlin and The ninth day. Hungary: The unburied man, Long weekend at Pest and Buda, Just sex and nothing else and the Princess Reprieve.

Iran: Wet Dream, Mama's Guest, The Insane Flew Away and Left Foot Forward on the Beat. Indonesia: Gie. Myanmar: Upstream. Norway: Hawai, Oslo, Sophie's world, Enemy of the People, Falling sky and The Telegraphist.

Poland: Solidarity, Solidarity. Sri Lanka: Butterfly wings and Sankara. U.K.: Constant Gardner. Vietnam: Bride of silence. Cuba/Spain/France: Habana Blues. World classics: Poland: Passenger and Days of Mathew. France: La Boheme and Ear Rings of Madam De. Czech: Jumping over puddles again. U.K.: Family Life. U.S.: To be or not to be. Japan: The Autumn Afternoon. Bulgaria: The Goat Horn.

Contemporary Indian cinema: Joymati (Assamese), Sonam (Arunachal), Hope (Telugu), Bayo (Marathi), Nenapirali (Kannada) and Saira (Malayalam).

Indian classics: 27 Down (Hindi), Chemmen (Malayalam), Atithi (Bengali), Halodhia Choraye Boudhen Khai (Assamese), Umbarta (Marathi), Samskara (Kannada) and Imagi Nigthem (Manipuri).

Japanese filmmaker Nagisa Oshima retrospective: Death by hanging, The boy, The ceremony and Dream summer sister.

Cinematographer V.K. Murthy retrospective: Pyaasa, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Kaagaz ke Phool and Tamas (all Hindi).

Cinematographer S. Ramachandra honour: Ghatashraddha.

French comedies: French fried vacation, Knock on wood, Sanata Claus Is a Louse, The visitors, French twist, Bernie and Freedom. The 26 films to be screened in Kannada retrospective includes Munnudi and Belli Moda.
