A real cracker

Mistiming causes not only confusion but humour too. When Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan was inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of the Government medical college in Kozhikode a few days ago, the venue was quiet.

But when he started his speech, every word was accompanied by a loud burst of cracker. One of the organisers told him that there were 50 of them. The organisers had failed to signal to the person in charge of bursting the crackers when the Chief Minister was lighting the lamp.
