Three killed while cleaning septic tank

Thiruvananthapuram: Three persons engaged in cleaning a septic tank in a house at Aalukadu near Poonthura, late on Tuesday night, were killed after they slipped and fell inside. The Fire and Rescue Services control room, which received the message at 11.45 p.m., immediately despatched two units as well as an ambulance to the spot.

The men were brought in dead to the casualty of the Medical College hospital. They are yet to be identified.

According to the Poonthura police, one of the men who got down to clean the tank slipped and fell inside. The other two fell in while trying to rescue him.

Other details are not yet known.

Man found hanging

Srinivasan, 70, a resident of Ulloor, was found hanging on a tree near his house on Tuesday afternoon. In another incident, a 19-year-old girl, Divya, of Puthukurichi, was found hanging in her house on Tuesday.

The bodies have been kept at the Medical College Hospital (MCH) mortuary.

Woman killed

A 60-year-old woman killed herself by consuming acid on Tuesday evening. She was identified as Saraswathi Amma, a resident of Aryanad. The body has been kept at the Medical College hospital mortuary.A 35-year-old man, Thampi of Neendakara, has been admitted to the MCH with serious injuries after some assailants stabbed him on Tuesday evening.

Found guilty

Sessions Court Judge K.P. Jyotheendranath has found a 50-year-old man guilty of murdering his wife at Valiathura in April 2000.

The prosecution case was that Andrews strangled Ambili to death after she refused to partake in immoral activities. The court will deliver the verdict in the case on Thursday.

The second accused was acquitted by the court due for lack of evidence. Special public prosecutor Neyyattinkara R. Jayasenan appeared on behalf of the prosecution.
