For underprivileged children

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Can the big business of mass entertainment make a difference to the lives of underprivileged children during this festive season? One of the largest multiplexes in the city seems to believe it can happen.

PVR Cinemas on Wednesday launched "Entertaining Moments" in association with Britannia India Ltd. The idea is to bring together children from the deprived sections and those from the better-off families together. And help them understand each other better.

In Bangalore, the occasion saw the screening of "Open House," which was enjoyed by hordes of children from the widely different sections of society. Besides the movie, games and fun activities were organised.

"You can consider it a small step in bridging a gap between children from different worlds and to spot the enormous talent that exists among children living in slums as well as those from affluent families,'' says Deepa Menon of PVR.

Spotting talent

The activities and games were designed to spot talent.

Children are quick to make new friends once they get over their initial shyness and this was very evident on the occasion.
