BANGALORE: The Vijayanagara police have arrested two students hailing from Kerala on charge of lifting vehicles and recovered from them nine motorcycles estimated at Rs. 3.5 lakh. The police gave the names of the accused as Tom Joy alias Monu (22), resident of J.C. Nagar, Nandini Layout and native of Kadanchira House, Nadakepadam Post, Kottayam district and Jinis Thomas (22), resident of Kumaraswamy Layout and native of Karuvata House, Kannikuri post, Kottayam district. Tom Joy, studying first year general nursing course at a college in Sunkadakatte, was suspended from college in 2005 for a drunken brawl. Jinis Thomas had come to Bangalore in search of a job after completing general nursing course in Bellary. The police laid their hands on the accused when they were allegedly attempting to unlock parked motorcycles in front of Indraprastha Hotel on Service Road in Vijayanagar. Watching their suspicious behaviour, Nageshaiah, a police constable attached to Cottonpet Police Station, informed the Vijayanagara police, who later nabbed the accused.
