Doctor arrested for obscene email

BANGALORE: The Cyber Crime police have traced the person who sent obscene email to a woman and have taken up a case under the Information Technology Act, 2000, against him. An official release said Vandana Rathore Poria filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station on December 18 that she had received five emails with obscene messages.

The origin of the email was traced to a cyber cafe at J.P. Nagar and with the help of its owner, the police identified the sender as Saravanan E., a doctor, said the release.

Dacoity bid foiled

The Chennamanakere Achchukattu police recently arrested 11 persons on charge of attempt to commit dacoity and recovered a multi-utility vehicle and lethal weapons from them.

The police said the accused had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate former corporator Gopalaiah, who allegedly had criminal antecedents.

The police gave the names of the accused as V. Ramaiah, alias Rama; Shivakumara, alias Kulli; Guru, alias Guruva; Chetan, alias Bajji; Nataraja, alias Nati; Santosh, alias Santu; Rupesh, alias Rupi; Sunil, alias Suni; Muniya, alias Muniyappa; Srinivas, alias Seena; and Manjunath, alias Manja, all aged between 19 and 22. They were arrested near Ittamadu. According to the police, they were associates of Korangu, Lingaraju and Kothi Rama, who are at present in jail.
