Jaipur: India trounced Sri Lanka by eight wickets to lift the women's cricket Asia Cup for the third consecutive year at the Sawai Man Singh stadium here on Thursday.

Electing to bat, Sri Lanka was bundled out for 93 in 44.1 overs. Opener C. Polgampala (22) put up some resistance even as Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals. Tailender S. Weerakoodey (17) was the other batswoman to put up some kind of a fight. For India, Jhulan Goswami, Rumeli Dhar and Devika Palshikar claimed two wickets each.

In reply, India lost both openers, Sulakshana Naik (16) and Tirush Kamini (13), early. But unbeaten knocks by Sunetra Paranjpe (35) and skipper Mithali Raj (17) helped the host cruise to victory in 27.5 overs.
