Saibaba to inaugurate K-P canal

The lining is expected to minimise seepage losses and improve the speed of water flow

ANANTAPUR: Satya Saibaba will inaugurate the lined Kandaleru-Poondi canal meant for supply of drinking water to Chennai as part of the Telugu Ganga scheme near Chennai in the third week of January. Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has donated Rs. 200 crores for lining of the 65-km K-P Canal, as the water losses were high in the unlined canal.

The lining is expected to minimise the seepage losses in the canal and to improve the speed of the water flow.

Saibaba is likely to fly to Chennai in the third week of January.
