Adopt organic farming, farmers told

Belgaum: Speakers at the World Farmers' Day advised farmers against use of excess chemicals and fertilizers in farming and suggested organic farming practices.

MP Suresh C. Angadi, who inaugurated the event organised jointly by the zilla panchayat and the Department of Agriculture here on Saturday, said excessive use of chemicals and fertilizers was adversely affecting the fertility of soil and leaving toxic residues in foodgrains, vegetables and fruits having a direct bearing on the health of its consumers.
