Rs. 1.75 lakh worth ornaments looted from house

BANGALORE: A three-member gang gagged an elderly man and his daughter and looted gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.75 lakh from their house in Ramamurthynagar police station limits on Friday.

The police said that around 12.30 p.m. a man came to Seshadri's house at Hoysalanagar on Thambuchetty Palya Main Road. He told Mr. Seshadri that he would get him a railway concession pass. He pretended to take down Mr. Seshadri's details and later summoned two persons who were waiting outside the house. The three tied Mr. Seshadri and his daughter Thangamma, gagged them and locked them in a room. Later, they took away the gold ornaments, the police said.

The Ramamurthynagar police have registered a case.

Three killed

Three persons, including a 13-year-old boy, were killed in separate road accidents in the city on Friday.

The police said Rahul (13) was killed when a water tanker hit him around 4.30 p.m. while he was playing at a playground in Seetarampalya near K.R. Puram. In another accident reported from Old Madras Road, one person was killed and another injured when a lorry hit them.

The accident occurred around 7.30 p.m. near Muthumariamma Temple. As it was a Friday, drivers had parked their vehicles near the temple for "puja". Satyavelu (22), cleaner of a goods vehicle, was killed when a lorry hit him and seven stationary vehicles, the police said. Traffic was affected on Old Madras Road for nearly an hour following the accident. An unidentified man aged around 60 was killed when a goods vehicle hit him while he was crossing Siddaiah Road, off Lalbagh Main Gate, around 10.30 p.m.
