BHOPAL: The Ujjain police have registered a case against Anil Singh Chandel, leader of a rival faction of the Kshatriya Mahasabha, and his supporters for allegedly blocking the convoy of AICC general secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on Monday. Mr. Singh was on his way to attend a function in Ujjain organised by the Mahasabha. When contacted, the Ujjain Superintendent of Police, Jaideep Prasad, told The Hindu that Mr. Chandel, who wanted to lodge a complaint of assault, was sent for medical examination. The medical test revealed that he had received a minor injury. This was a non-cognisable offence under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code and a case under these circumstances could be registered only with the court's permission.
