BANGALORE: The State Government has released Rs. 245 crore for taking up the second phase of civil works in six new medical college buildings. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Minister for Public Works H.D. Revanna said medical college buildings in Mandya, Hassan, Shimoga and Raichur had been provided Rs. 40 crore each, and those in Bidar Rs. 50 crore and Belgaum Rs. 35 crore. In the first phase, Rs. 120 crore had been spent on construction of buildings. Classrooms, auditoria and laboratory rooms would be ready before the next visit to these colleges by a team of officials of the Medical Council of India, he said. A sum of Rs. 66 crore had been sanctioned for construction of a circuit bench building of the High Court in Dharwad and the work would be completed on April 24, 2008. For the High Court circuit bench building in Gulbarga, Rs. 65.45 crore had been sanctioned and the work is expected to be completed on May 1, 2008. Referring to roadworks, he said Rs. 779.81 crore had been sanctioned for upgrading 46 roads in IT corridor in Bangalore. The NABARD would spend Rs. 800 crore on rural roads in the next one year, Mr. Revanna added.
