Torso found in HBR Layout

BANGALORE: The residents of the 3rd Stage, HBR Layout, on Friday woke up to a grisly murder in their locality. Morning joggers found the torso of a man near the HBR Extension Service Road and alerted the Hennur police. The assailants had severed the man's head and right hand. The torso was partly burnt. The lower limbs of the man, aged around 35, were tied with a rope, the police said.

The police suspect that after killing the man somewhere else, the culprits had dumped the torso in HBR Layout in the early hours of Friday. They apparently severed the head and burnt the torso to ensure that his identity was not established, the police said. The torso has been kept in Ambedkar Medical College hospital mortuary. The Hennur police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

A motorcyclist snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 25,000 from Vijayalakshmi in Jnana Bharathi police station limits on Thursday.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. when Vijayalakshmi and her family members were walking to a temple near their house in 2nd Stage, Nagarabavi. The motorcyclist had covered his face with a helmet, the police said.

Shops burgled

Burglars struck at a medical stores and a grocery shop in Ramamurthynagar police station limits on Thursday night and made away with goods estimated at Rs. 50,000.

The police said the thieves had entered the two adjoining shops in Kasturinagar by breaking open the rolling shutters.

Houses burgled

Thieves broke into two houses on Thursday night and made away with gold ornaments and other valuables. The police said the burglars looted gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 25,000 from Gopi's house in Ramakrishna Hegdenagar in Kadugondanahalli police station limits. The other incident took place at H.G. Parappa's house in Adityanagar in Subramanyapura police station limits.
