Protest rally

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vallakkadavu Muslim Jama-ath, in association with various political outfits, will conduct a rally on Sunday in protest against the execution of the former Iraq president Saddam Hussein. The rally will begin from Juma Masjid at 8.30 a.m. and will conclude at the Enjakkal bypass junction. The rally will be followed by a public meeting. — Staff Reporter

Security stepped up

Thiruvananthapuram: Security has been stepped up in the city in connection with the New Year celebrations. This was announced in a release issued by the city police Commissioner here on Saturday. Directions have been issued to take stringent action against people who resort to drunken driving. Police personnel in plain clothes will be deployed.
