Bangalore: The city police have made elaborate security arrangements for New Year Eve.

In a release here on Saturday, Commissioner of Police N. Achutha Rao said that restrictions would be imposed on vehicles except police vehicles and those of essential services on duty from 8 p.m. on December 31, 2006, to 1 a.m. on January 1, 2007. The no entry rule will be enforced on M.G. Road from Anil Kumble Junction up to Residency Road Junction near Mayo Hall; on Brigade Road from Cauvery Emporium to Opera Junction; Church Street to Museum Road via Brigade Road; Museum Road-M.G. Road junction up to Madras Bank Road Junction; Rest House Road Junction on Museum Road to its junction on Brigade Road; Kamaraj Road from Cauvery Emporium Junction to Cubbon Road Junction, and Residency Cross Road to M.G. Road-Symphony Theatre Junction.

Parking of all types of vehicles, except police vehicles and those of essential services on duty, has been prohibited from 4 p.m. on December 31 to 3 a.m. on January 1 on M.G. Road from Anil Kumble Junction up to Trinity Circle; on Brigade Road from Arts and Crafts Junction to Opera Junction; on Church Street from its junction with M.G. Road; Brigade Road up to its junction on St. Mark's Road; Rest House Road from its junction on Brigade Road up to its junction with Museum Road; Museum Road from its junction on M.G. Road up to its junction with Madras Bank Road.

Vehicles parked on M.G. Road, Brigade Road, Rest House Road, Church Street, Residency Road, and St. Mark's Road should be removed before 4 p.m. on December 31, failing which they would be towed away and fine imposed on the owners.

After 8 p.m. on December 31, vehicles coming from Queen's Statue Junction on M.G. Road and proceeding towards Ulsoor and beyond would have to take a left turn at Anil Kumble Circle, enter Church Street, turn right to Cubbon Road and proceed on Cubbon Road and join M.G. Road near Webb's Junction.

Vehicles proceedingtowards Cantonment areas from Ulsoor would have to take a right turn near Trinity Circle, enter Ulsoor Road, turn left on Dickenson Road and proceed towards Cubbon Road.

Parking will be allowed on both sides of Kamaraja Road up to Church Street Junction, inside Cubbon Park on Kings Road and at Shivajinagar Bus Stand.
