BANGALORE: Prayers in mosques and dargahs in the city marked the celebration of the festival of sacrifice, Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) by Muslims in Bangalore on Monday. The day also saw the distribution of alms, and of meat from animals sacrificed on the occasion, to the poor. Coinciding with the conclusion of the Haj pilgrimage, the celebration of Bakrid witnessed preparation of special delicacies in Muslim families. After the prayers, the affluent sacrificed one animal per member of the family and distributed two-thirds of the meat among the poor to mark the celebrations. Also sacrificed were a few camels on the occasion.
