Lecture

The National Institute of Advanced Sciences has organised a lecture on "Hurricane Katrina: social autopsy of an American disaster." Michael Burawoy, University of California, Berkeley, U.S., will deliver the lecture at J.R.D. Tata Auditorium, NIAS, opposite M.S. Ramaiah Engineering College, on Tuesday at 6 p.m., according to a press release.

Convention

"Think India," the three-day national convention organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, will be held in the city from January 11. The convention is aimed at facilitating the students to understand problems in the right perspective, emerging trends as well as the potential of the nation. Sri Sri Ravishankar, founder of the Art of Living, Sam Pitroda, Chairman of the Knowledge Commission, and K. Kasturirangan, Director of National Institute of Advanced Studies, will participate.

Lecture

Martin Rees, president, Royal Society, London, will deliver the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology lecture on "21st Century Science: cosmic perspectives and terrestrial challenges". The lecture programme has been organised by the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advances Scientific Research and Indian Institute of Science and will be held on January 12 at the J.N. Tata Auditorium at 4 p.m.

Exhibition

Magniture Gallery will exhibit a new set of paintings on Tuesday on the theme "Swadesh" to highlight the old-world charm and innocence of rural India. The exhibition on its premises at No. 140/13, 27th Cross, 13th Main, 3rd Block, Jayangar, Bangalore. It will be open between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. — Staff Reporter
