Will it improve matters? This is the question that is doing the rounds in the Kochi Corporation these days. The civic body had granted the contract for removal of waste from the city to one more contractor on Wednesday. "Orders were issued to the second contractor who has his own fleet of lorries and own land at Gudalur for carrying and dumping waste," Kochi Mayor Mercy Williams said. The new contractor is expected to start work on removal of waste from the city soon. The contractor will be charging Rs.1500 per tonne of garbage removed. With this, removal of waste is expected to become a normal activity in the city. But all residents of the city knows that it takes time to tell.
