Domestic workers take out rally in Mysore

MYSORE: The Federation of Housemaids staged a rally here on Thursday and submitted a list of 15 demands to the Government for consideration.

The rally was organised under the auspices of the Dhwani Mahila Okkuta, which is striving to ameliorate their living condition for the last 15 years. More than 500 domestic workers participated in it. The okkuta said domestic workers normally belonged to socially and economically weaker sections were part of the unorganised sector devoid of any social security.

Many of them were subjected to intense physical, psychological and sexual harassment and were deprived of weekly offs, holidays and leave.
