COIMBATORE: The University Grants Commission has sanctioned two research projects for the Department of Special Education, Avinashilingam University for Women in the area of disability, to identify problems and offer empowerment.

Titled `Prevalence of Violence Against Disabled Women' the project has been sanctioned Rs. 2,92,900; while the other project titled `Early Intervention Project for Children at Risk for Disabilities' has been sanctioned a sum of Rs. 3,14,380.
