An opportunity to showcase their talent

BANGALORE: Deva Matha Central Schools celebrated their Annual Day recently in a grand manner. The occasion provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talent. The highlight of the programme was "Suvarna Karnataka" in which students presented thematic dance numbers. This was followed by a fusion dance. Meritorious students were honoured. R.K. Mandal was the chief guest at the Annual Day celebrations of the Banaswadi school. Lt. Gen. C.R. Sampath Kumar, principal, India International School, did the honours at the Vidyaranyapura school. A.R.K. Menon, president of the school management committee, presided over the function.

DPS (North) celebrates Annual Day

Delhi Public School (North), Yelahanka, celebrated its Annual Day recently. The programme began with "Swagatham, suswagatham" song by the junior school choir. Presenting the annual report, principal Sneh Preet Sial said the aim of the school was to enable children to achieve excellence in their chosen field.

M.M. Chopra, chairman of DPS (North), was the chief guest. Meritorious students were felicitated on the occasion. Rohan Garg received a trophy for excelling in academics. Aditya Goel was honoured for excelling in co-curricular activities, while Achintya Prahlad walked away with the Marker Cup. K. Rahman Khan, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, was the guest of honour. He gave away prizes to the winners.

An occasion to remember

New Public English School, Vijayanagar, celebrated its Annual Day recently. Santhosh Vas, chairperson of the Janodaya Trust, inaugurated the function. MLC Saleem Ahmed was the guest of honour. Toppers in the SSLC examination held in March were felicitated.

The cultural programme focused on the achievements of Karnataka and it began with a dance that depicted the rich heritage of the State. Eastern and western dances, peacock dance, Bharatanatya and a Rajastani folk dance were part of the function.

Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava

Florence Public School, R.T. Nagar, celebrated Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava recently. Inter-house competitions were held to showcase Kannada. Students shared their opinion in "pick and speak" and debate competitions on topics such as "My dream Bengaluru" and "Change of Bangalore to Bengaluru". Folk songs, light music, classical songs and film songs threw light on the rich cultural heritage of the State. "The land of beautiful monuments and forests, the abode of gifted saints and poets, Karnataka has much to offer. Our effort was aimed at keeping the spirit of Kannada high," said principal Abida.
