Bangalore: K. Jairaj, Commissioner of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, on Monday met various animal welfare organisations and chalked out a 10-point programme to tackle the stray dog menace in the city. Several BMP officials, including joint commissioners, Deputy Commissioner (Health), Deputy Director (Animal Husbandry) and medical officers of health, representatives of Animal Rights Fund, Krupa, Karuna and CUPA attended the meeting and deliberated on steps that could be taken to control the menace. Speaking to The Hindu after the meeting, the Commissioner said he had directed the animal welfare organisations to intensify the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme.
