MUMBAI: The rupee recovered against the U.S. currency on Tuesday and ended at 44.3750/3900 a dollar due to fresh dollar sales after sharp fall in world crude oil prices. In active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit resumed steady at 44.45/46 a dollar from Monday's close of 44.45/47 a dollar and later shot up to an intra-day high of 44.3700 a dollar and ended at 44.3750/3900.
