Rupee plunges to 44.54/$

MUMBAI: The rupee plunged by 17 paise and ended at Rs. 44.54/56 a dollar on Wednesday due to poor foreign funds inflow into the stock market along with firm dollar against euro and yen.

In active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened sharply lower at 44.4575/4750 against Tuesday's close of 44.3750/39.

After nosediving further to a low of 44.58, the rupee ended at 44.54/56, steeply lower than the previous close. — PTI
