ANANTAPUR: The State Committee meeting of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) held here for two days on January 11 and 12 adopted five resolutions on issues mostly concerning people, particularly land and water-related issues.

In the first resolution, the party committee asked the State Government to implement the recommendations of Land Committee led by Koneru Ranga Rao.

The report was accepted by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy but there was no follow-up action. The meeting expressed concern over the `delaying tactics' of the Government in implementing the report.

Land commission

Further, the committee demanded setting up of a land commission and a separate ministry for implementing land reforms. It also expressed concern over the violation of tribal acts and warned the Government that it would amount to violation of the Constitution if the acts were not implemented properly.

The second resolution adopted by the party was asking the Government to announce a comprehensive water policy.

The committee accused the Government of creating regional differences and problem between districts with irresponsible approach on the issue.

Referring to the raging controversy on the expansion of Pothireddypadu regulator the committee felt that nobody could raise a voice of dissent if all other projects based on about 400 tmcft of surplus water in Krishna were taken up simultaneously.

A scientific policy would leave no scope for any region or district to raise their voice.
