Renewal of slum on the cards

BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will complete the renewal of the slum near Jasma Bhavan in Austin town at a cost of Rs. 4.91 crore by October.

The BBMP will take up renovation of this 1,870 sq.ft expanse of slum under its Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) project to be taken up in the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Four housing complexes, good entry roads, storm water drains, drinking water and street lights will be provided for the 86 families living in the slum under the Centre-sponsored project.
