Advani calls for priority to education and health sectors

BANGALORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani on Thursday inaugurated BGS Global Super Speciality Hospital at a function here. This was to mark the 63rd birthday celebrations of Sri Balagangadharanatha Swami of Adichunchanagiri Math.

Speaking after the inauguration of the hospital, Mr. Advani lauded the contribution of Sri Balagangadharanatha Swami to education and health. As the country's growth depended on the growth of the health and education sectors, priority should be accorded to them, he said. The super speciality hospital within the 50-acre campus of BGS Health and Education City off Uttarahalli Main Road near Kengeri offers state-of-the-art medical facilities. The 450-bed hospital, among other things, offers liver transplantation.

The swamiji's birthday celebrations were kicked off by State Congress President M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday. Students of BGS educational institutions and devotees took part in the celebrations.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy attended the celebrations on Thursday.

Sri Sri Ravishankar of Art of Living, Sri Nityananda Swamiji of Jnana Peetha, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting M.H. Ambarish, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways K.H. Muniyappa, birthday celebrations reception committee chairman and Health Minister R. Ashok were present.
