Disabled man held for attempted child abuse

BANGALORE: The High Grounds police have arrested a physically challenged man on charge of attempted child abuse.

The incident that took place on January 18 was reported to the police on Sunday. Acting on a complaint by the five-year-old girl's father, the High Grounds police have arrested Mukesh (20).

According to the police, the incident occurred behind B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Vasanthnagar, where a group of construction workers were living. The families of the victim as well as the accused hail from West Bengal.

The girl's parents, who were reluctant to lodge a complaint, approached the police on the insistence of fellow workers. The girl and Mukesh were subjected to medical examination at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Shivajinagar on Wednesday.

Chain snatched

A man put his hands through a window and snatched a gold chain from a woman who was asleep at her house in Yeshwanthapur police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police said the incident took place at Jyothi's house in Muthyalanagar around 5 a.m. When the thief tried to snatch the chain, Jyothi held it tightly. But the chain snapped and the thief ran away with a piece of it, the police said. Nozzles Recovered

The Basaveshwaranagar police have arrested two persons on charges of theft and recovered from them 46 bronze nozzles estimated at Rs. 3.20 lakh. The arrested were identified as Yeshwanth (27) and Shaktivelu (18), both residents of Kamalanagar. The two had stolen the articles from their workplace on Tumkur Road in Peenya, the police said.
